The pandemic may be staring to lessen in impact, but Big Finish has reluctantly taken the decision this year’s will (like 2020) have to be a virtual event. The full press release is below.

Virtually Big Finish Day

Virtual Big Finish Day to return in 2021, while the Derby QUAD event is postponed until 2022.  

Although the latest guidelines from the UK government indicate a route out of lockdown throughout 2021, Big Finish (in agreement with its friends at Whoovers and Derby QUAD) has postponed the planned Big Finish Day event until the first quarter of 2022.  

The decision was not taken lightly, as Big Finish Chairman, Jason Haigh-Ellery explained:

“With the UK Covid-19 threat level remaining high, it has become apparent that going ahead with a Big Finish Day event in May 2021 is unfeasible. The requirements for social distancing still in place during the coronavirus pandemic would severely limit the number of attendees and necessitate a significant number of ticket refunds for the already sold-out event.  

“We care deeply about the safety of our listeners, our friends at Whoovers and Derby QUAD, and our brilliant guests and creative teams who were due to attend. We want the event to be the best possible day for all. Under the circumstances, we are agreed that the best course of action is to postpone to early 2022.  

“We would like to ask that those who have tickets keep hold of them as they will be honoured when a new date is published.  

“In the meantime, we are planning another Virtual Big Finish Day livestream on YouTube, available to all our listeners, which will be even more exciting and surprising that the one we hosted last August.” 

Steve Hatcher, of the Whoovers, said: “It was frustrating, of course, that we weren’t able to bring you Big Finish Day at Derby QUAD in 2020. Sadly, now that frustration has to continue for a little longer. But rest assured that Big Finish Day will return during the first quarter of 2022; and that the Whoovers, Derby QUAD and of course our wonderful friends at Big Finish will be working hard to make sure it returns bigger and better than ever before. We cannot wait to see you all again for another day of terrific Big Finish audio fun.” 

Adam Marsh, of QUAD, added: “QUAD is delighted to once again be the venue for Big Finish Day. All tickets purchased for Big Finish Day 2020 will be transferred over to the new edition in early 2022. While we hope everyone who purchased tickets for the 2020 edition will join us in early 2022, we do realise that this is a long time between festivals. For those who require a refund they will be available via the QUAD Box Office when QUAD reopens after current lockdown restrictions are lifted.”

The venue is currently temporarily closed, however the team there will respond to your booking query as soon as they are back on-site and able to make contact.
