Cyberman boxset review on Starburst

I reviewed the special (Big Finish site only) release of Cyberman: The Complete Series 1 & 2 over on Starburst. I hadn’t heard these before (they are from 2005 and 2009) and while there is no Doctor, there is plenty to enjoy. The review is: CYBERMAN THE COMPLETE SERIES 1 & 2. === Message Ends ===

Five Days to go!

Yes, the countdown has reached five; five more days until Saturday the 19th of September, 2015. The day for all Doctor Who fans to rejoice. Yes, it’s Big Finish Day 7! What? There’s something on TV that evening? Well I know where my priorities lie (and I can make it down the motorway in time for The Magician’s Apprentice!

Big Finish teases more new series characters…

The latest Big Finish Podcast (the one recorded at Gallifrey) gives a few snippets of interesting information. First is that Kate Stewart is only the first character from the new franchise that Big Finish expects to license! Does this mean Torchwood or Paternoster Gang?

Big Finish makes the long list for 2015 BBC Audio Drama Awards

Update on the upscaling of the downloads

Apologies for the techno-babble title – this is an update on the increasingly long list of downloads now upgraded to 256 kbps (and also now having audiobooks available). My list of upgraded files (with dates) is here: Main Range (and other) titles now available as 256 kbps. Yes the title isn’t very snappy, but what can…

Big Finish 15 – 2006

The Big Finish celebration machine hits 2006 today and there are two rich veins of material to explore. A surprise guest to the feast is the Dark Shadows range whereas the Doctor Who ranges have the I, Davros set plus The Davros Mission and these latter titles are all £1 each (download).

Graceless special offer

If (like me) you’ve never bought the Graceless stories by Simon Guerrier now could be the time. This weekend (March 21st – 24th) they can be picked up for £10 each or all three for £25 (normal price £25 each). And if you don’t know, these are the adult oriented stories of the tracer twins from the Key2Time trilogy…

Ace news for Benny

Big Finish has announced that there will be two special releases for Bernice Summerfield this year (2014). Played by Lisa Bowerman the galaxy’s greatest archaeologist returns with the Seventh Doctor and Ace. The announcement doesn’t specifically tie up with the news about The Worlds of Doctor Who but I get the sense that this is part of…

Starburst review of Iris Wildthyme series 4

Just a quick plug for my review of Iris Wildthyme series 4 up on the StarBurst website – link here. Written by Cavan Scott, Mark Wright and David Bryher this is an entertaining set of stories worth a listen. I may produce a more detailed review in the next few days – until then do let me…

Save Iris Wildthyme

Reading the letters in the latest Vortex (#56 available free here) it seems that the latest series of Iris Wildthyme (series 4) may be the last one. Sadly sales aren’t what they might be so the series may be getting put on the back-shelf. If you’re an Iris fan but haven’t bought this yet then…

Nick’s Picks – weekend sale

Another weekend, another sale! This time its the so-called Nick’s Picks in which Nick Briggs (pictured) chooses ten titles some of which have already been on sale this year. This sale is available only on the weekend of 28-29 September; it consists of nine Doctor Who titles and one Sherlock Holmes. I have all the Doctor…

Dark Eyes is Paul’s Pick

There was a recent competition held on FaceBook and elsewhere in which fans could vote on a shortlist of Paul McGann’s favourite Big Finish Eighth Doctor audios. The winner was Dark Eyes and to celebrate there is a massive 50% discount available (not sure for how long) by going to the news item (here) and following through with the…
