Lots of fandom are assuming Resolution will bring a Dalek into play. I’m not so sure, though I very much want it to happen. It’s a bit of a Catch-22 for Chris Chibnall: damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. I’ll explain my thoughts…

To Dalek or not to Dalek?

I’ve already predicted Daleks for New Year last month and the trailer is very much building that way with a buried threat and the DNA of the most evil creature. I think there’s a dilemma though.

It’s a Dalek! Fans will be happy, but then why pretend no returning villains, even if this episode is technically outside series 11? It undermines his whole soft relaunch, but does give fans a big (I hope) episode to savour, and it’s all we get next year

It’s not a Dalek;-( Oh dear. We seem to back in this problem world where showrunners want to leave a mark on the series and do it their way. It’s pretty much an inherent part of the show that Daleks are the most evil creature there is. Will we accept another new big bad?

It’s not a Dalek, but… is there an assumption in my last statement? What would the War Doctor say? He’d say the Time Lords were as evil as the Daleks in their own way. Could it be another Time Lord? Omega? Not the best theory but you never know!
