Free with the September 2018 Doctor Who Main Range release The Dispossed from Big Finish is the Stephen Osbourne Subscriber Short Trips: The Smallest Battle. It’s an absorbing story for the Fourth Doctor and Leela as they find themselves on a war-torn world, trying to make a difference.
Read by Stephen Critchlow, anyone with a subscription should make sure they listen to this. Like all the range (feel free to ignore mine own contributions!) it tells a small story of a moment. In this case it’s a tale of war and how the journey towards peace has to start with small steps. It really fits the Fourth Doctor well, perhaps due to Stephen Critchlow’s Tom impersonation, but even without I think it would work. Leela is almost underused, but there’s a limit to what these stories can achieve. As a piece it’s a nice piece of writing, well read. What more do you need?!
