Thoughts ahead of the Haunting of the Villa Diodati

Series 12 takes the Thirteenth Doctor and companions back in time to the Villa Diodati and a meeting with Mary Shelley, Lord Byron and Percy Shelley. As a Big Finish fan, my main concern is how it fits (or not) with the superb Jonathan Morris Mary’s Story.

Mary’s Shelley

We didn’t get enough Mary Shelley at Big Finish but we could see a direction of travel. Jonathan Morris wove the Doctor, Frankenstein and history together to make one of the strongest half-hour stories Big Finish has ever released.

I’d like a nod to continuity, a hand wave to the Time War as an explanation. I expect we’ll get nothing. It seems to me the continuity (there is no canon) works downstream – Big Finish fit in with the BBC who do what they want.

We shall see. I’m still expecting a decent story as there is clearly lots of potential.

Yeah. Even I’m anxious about the next ‘Doctor Who’ episode featuring Mary Shelley. Hopefully it should be enjoyable despite the outcome. Big Finish are bound to work wonders resolving continuity issues as far as the TV show’s concerned. 😀 Tim. 🙂

If we ever get any more Mary Shelley from Big Finish – I have my doubts!
