Christmas is cancelled (for the Doctor)

It’s being widely reported (though not by the BBC). There will be no Doctor Who on Christmas Day in 2018, the first time we’ve skipped since the return of the show. Many outlets have this today (Friday 2 Nov, 2018), including The Independent, but we also hear it will move to New Year’s Day: Doctor Who Christmas special ‘not happening this year’ — moved to New Years day. It’s a shock, and I suppose New Year’s Eve wouldn’t work, though when I were a lad we’d watch something scary like Quatermass and the Pit on BBC2 while staying up for New Year’s.

Will this be the only episode in 2019? It’s being widely suggested, but more on that in another post.
