While mine own review is yet to appear (I’ll keep you posted), all the obvious outlets had theirs out as soon as they could. As ever I’ve grabbed a few to comment on. The Haunting of Villa Diodati
First up (as ever) the Radio Times. In their 5* review Doctor Who The Haunting of Villa Diodati review: a ghost-story that deftly subsumes the birth of horror into the show’s own mythology they praises writer Maxine Alderton for the deft handling of the new characters.
Inews singled out Jodie Whittaker in theirs: Doctor Who, The Haunting of Villa Diodati, review: Jodie Whittaker is electrifying when faced with a grittier story, whereas Den of Geek felt some of the elements could be better, but did like it: Doctor Who Season 12 Episode 8 Review: The Haunting of Villa Diodati.
Even the Metro newspaper gets in on the act with
Doctor Who season 12 episode 8 review: The Haunting of Villa Diodati sees Cybermen return in Frankenstein homage ahead of epic finale. They’d have preferred a historical ghost story without cyber-enhancements. Unfortunately this is Doctor Who! You get science fiction elements, monsters and the strange.
