As fans obsess about ratings, the BBC isn’t panicking about Doctor Who

While interesting, certain segments of Doctor Who fandom obsess about the shows ratings. While it’s clear the show needs to be successful on some measure to continue to be shown (and it won’t last forever), it seems to me a lot of things are being conflated. Some are just doomsayers. Some want to use statistics to prove their current simplistic ideas (sack the show runner, change the Doctor). Others may feel diminished if they think the show is under threat.
