I’m expecting a massive change of pace for the third instalment of series 12, Orphan 55. The title is intriguing and writer Ed Hime wrote one of the more quirky stories of series 11 (It Takes You Away). Will the big arc get a mention? Will the Master appear? I’m thinking no to both. Who is the orphan? The thin BBC synopsis only tells us:

The Doctor and her friends discover that the luxury resort where they are holidaying is hiding a number of deadly secrets. What are the ferocious monsters attacking Tranquillity Spa?

It looks like a chance for the normal companions to each do their thing, including Graham fiddling with a teleport cube (sadly not the Key to Time!)

The visuals are a mix of holiday resort, green hair, dark underground and a woman with a serious looking gun. Form your own views from the gallery. It’s nice to see the TARDIS get some proper use as a location.

The nose clips mean something, so I’m assuming the air is not good for human life. I predict Ryan will inevitably have a problem with his. The trailer shows Graham back on form and the biggest threat is clearly his Speedos!

There will be a dark underbelly. This is the first non-Chibnall story this series and in my view Ed Hime did one of the better series 11 tales. I can’t imagine his episode will just be a filler.

Anyhow, only a few days to wait!
