Still waiting for the Paternoster Gang on audio

Another reveal from the latest Big Finish podcast was the fact their extended licence doesn’t cover the Paternoster Gang. This is a surprise to many fans, and more so given Strax has already appeared with Jago & Litefoot.

Jago, Litefoot and Strax

It may not be the full Paternoster Gang, but we can’t complain. Big Finish has announced Jago & Litefoot & Strax. An idea so obvious I didn’t think of it. Dan Starkey is a very familiar figure in Big Finish releases and fans have been clamouring to have the Paternoster Gang meet up with Jago & Litefoot….

Could we get the Further Fantastical Adventures of Captain Avery?

With the recent new-Who announcements from Big Finish, and the hint of more to come, I wondered what else we might be expecting and out of those what would I must want to listen to. I’ll start with the most likely, The Paternoster Gang, then cast my net wider. My thoughts are below — do…

Deep Breath reviewed

Season 8 kicked off with Deep Breath – the first story for the Twelfth Doctor, Clara and the whole Paternoster gang of Madame Vastra, Strax and Jenny. Written by Steven Moffat, how dark was it and how did Capaldi perform as the latest regeneration of the Doctor? What is happening with the dinosaur loose in Victorian London and…

The Name of the Doctor reviewed

We also looked at our speculations…

The Crimson Horror reviewed

Series 7B of Doctor Who continues with The Crimson Horror a Mark Gatiss story set in Victorian England and allowing the latest Clara to meet with the Paternoster Square gang – Vastra, Strax and Jenny. Will they mention The Snowmen? I think the set-up for this has a lot of potential even if I generally find…

The return of the Paternoster Square Gang!

Looking forward to Saturday 4th of May (or Star Wars day as it is also know) we wet our lips at the thought of the return of the Paternoster Square gang of Madame Vastra, Strax and Jenny. This and a Mark Gatiss script featuring characters played by Diana Rigg and her real-life daughter makes The Crimson…

The one with (almost) a new companion – The Snowmen reviewed

Another Christmas and this time (2012) the BBC brought us Steven Moffat’s The Snowmen. Billed as the story that would give the Doctor a new companion in the form of Jenna-Louise Coleman’s Clara and a new TARDIS interior, there was a certain weight of expectation on this episode, especially as we had already met Oswin in…

Rory Strikes Back!

How will this play-out? So writing before transmission, and amidst lots of speculation, what are the pieces linking up for this episode? As there is so much interest and clues from the BBC (and many others) I have a whole section (next) on my thoughts. Meanwhile as I write the attention is now turning to…
