While I felt Stranded 1 had potential but wasn’t innovative enough in its storytellling, I felt Stranded 2 worked a lot better. It’s more conventional Doctor Who and felt more coherent, though still had some flaws. You can read my thoughts on Cultbox: Doctor Who: Stranded 2 audio drama review. <<| Message Ends |>>

The Eleven is free (one week only)
This week’s (12 October 2020) free download from Big Finish is The Eleven. There’s also (of course) a related sale. Details below…
Doctor Who: Stranded 1 — what do I really think?
I’ve been thinking (on and off) about the Stranded 1 boxset. While I believe I understand why the new approach, I’ve had some niggling doubts about the set as a whole. Plenty to enjoy, yet a sense of is that it? when I got to the end. It’s also a long wait for the next…
Doctor Who Stranded 1.4 Divine Intervention
David K Barnes brings the first set of Eighth Doctor Stranded stories to a close with Divine Intervention. Welcome back to London, 2020. Broken TARDIS, problems with money and a house full of people with their own backstories. Does this final (for now) story make things clearer or add to the mysteries (spoiler — it…
Doctor Who Stranded 1.3 Must-see TV
The first Eighth Doctor set of Stranded stories continues (from Wild Animals) with Lisa McMullin’s Must-see TV. The Doctor, Liv and Helen are still trapped in London 2020, and we have arrivals in the form of Sgt Andy Davidson (Tom Price) and Mr Bird (Clive Wood). Science fiction is back on the agenda but we’re…
Doctor Who Stranded 1.2 Wild Animals
Doctor Who Stranded takes the Eighth Doctor, Liv and Helen from where they left off in Lost Property and reinforces the message — this is not a standard bang crash, in-out adventure. This is real life and it can be a bit mundane. John Dorney takes over writing for Wild Animals. It’s another day near…
Doctor Who Stranded 1.1 Lost Property
With Stranded, Big Finish takes the Eighth Doctor, Liv and Helen to a Covid-free version of London 2020. There they must survive without TARDIS and most of the Doctor’s trickery (no sonic nor psychic paper). Instead they might even have to get jobs! It’s all very different and for me, overdue. I’m reviewing these one…
More thoughts on Doctor Who: Stranded
I like the idea of Doctor Who: Stranded as I mentioned when the news broke, and after further thought I can explain why. It’s a combination of interesting ideas and some challenges. I go into more detail below…
The Eighth Doctor is Stranded in 2020 with Sgt Andy!
After the trials and tribulations of Ravenous, it’s a change of pace for the Eighth Doctor, Liv and Helen as they find themselves stranded in 2020 London without the TARDIS! Coming July 2020 is the first in a set of four boxsets in the new Doctor Who: Stranded range. To add to the mix we…
Ravenous 4 review
The latest Eighth Doctor / Liv Chenka / Helen Sinclair sixteen-disc epic comes to a conclusion in Ravenous 4. I’ve had mixed views on this series; in my mind it’s really a second set with the Eleven and the Ravenous have taken a while to come to life. This set also has more Masters than…
Ravenous 3 review on CultBox
My take on Ravenous 3, the Eighth Doctor, Liv and Helen (plus Eleven…) boxset is available on CultBox: Doctor Who: Ravenous Volume 3 review. Another good set, if dominated by the Eleven rather than the Ravenous. <<< Message Ends >>>
Ravenous 2 review
The latest set of stories in the Eighth Doctor Ravenous range takes the Doctor, Liv Chenka and Helen Sinclair to yet stranger places than before in a mix of tales I mostly liked but I have some reservations with Ravenous 2 as a set. Let me explain…
