The four Companion Chronicles cover a good range and of the ones I have I recommend The Many Deaths of Jo Grant. Of course I also insist you buy the first series of the Eighth Doctor Adventures (aka The Ballad of Lucie Miller) which is where I got the name Red Rocket Rising from.
