The Galactic YoYo
This deceptively simple picture tracks how much time the Doctor spends on Earth rather than not. It uses a really basic algorithm (explained in the article) and it first you might think so what? Take another look (if you click the picture should expand – if not buy the book!) and you will see a lot more is going on. Received wisdom gets challenged – yes the Third Doctor was stuck on Earth but the trend started most markedly with the Second Doctor. There’s also lots to consider for later Doctors.
