Counter Measures to be cancelled?

The latest Big Finish podcast tells us the axe is falling on the Counter Measures range. The team from Remembrance of the Daleks has one last outing with the Seventh Doctor and Ace as part of The Legacy of Time and that’s it (barring a major upturn). For me, Counter Measures was the first all new range to be written after I…

Abby and Zara – what happened next…

So, you’re the Tracer twins, Abby and Zara, created by the Grace to locate the segments of the Key to Time, long since stripped of your powers and now called Amy and Joy. What happens next? Simon Guerrier answers this question in Graceless 4. The details are still emerging, but the cunning twist is time passes…

Worlds of Big Finish reviewed

Big Finish released their crossover / heroes assemble special, Worlds of Big Finish in mid-May 2015. I was surprised at a somewhat mixed reaction from fans on the forum who seemed to judge it according to standards I didn’t feel were appropriate. For me I took this as a well priced 3 CD release covering a host of…

Worlds of Big Finish Cultbox review

I reviewed Worlds of Big Finish over on Cultbox, a review will follow here at some point. Even though not a Doctor Who title, four (so far) of the included stories have connected (Graceless, Iris Wildthyme, Vienna and Bernice Summerfield). The review is: ‘Worlds of Big Finish’ audio story review. *** Message Ends ***

Worlds of Big Finish announced

At Big Finish Day 6, a new special was announced. To be released in May 2015 is a special The Worlds of Big Finish (aka Big Finish Assembles;-). The news item is NEW RELEASE ANNOUNCED – THE WORLDS OF BIG FINISH! This is a Scott Handcock project and is six half hour stories, all written by David Llewellyn.

Big Finish 15 – 2009

As I guessed yesterday (Big Finish 15 – 2008) gives us the Key2Time trilogy and a chance to get Simon Guerrier’s Graceless. All of these feature the Tracer Twins and the main range trilogy also has the Fifth Doctor.

The Oliver Harper Companion Chronicles reviewed

Big Finish released three Companion Chronicles for the First Doctor and Steven (Peter Purves doing both) and a brand new companion in the form of Oliver Harper (Tom Allen — Pip Bin from Bleak Expectations). The stories are written by Simon Guerrier (author of several other trilogies notably the Sara Kingdom stories and also Graceless). How well does this series…

Interview with Simon Guerrier

Starburst #390 (with Wolverine on the cover) includes my two-page write-up of an interview with Simon Guerrier. In this he discusses a range of topics including Graceless, Sara Kingdom, writing trilogies and his Destiny of the Doctor story Shadow of Death. He even finds time to talk about his Blake’s 7 story The Turing Test. In an exclusive he…

Interview with Cavan Scott and Mark Wright

I caught up with Cavan Scott and Mark Wright who kindly spared the time to answer a few questions including Blake’s 7, Vienna, Iris, Graceless and The Forge. The result can be found here on the Starburst website. Left to right the photo shows Paul Darrow, Tom Chadbon, Cavan Scott and Mark Wright. Please do…

Babblesphere reviewed

The April Destiny of the Doctor story Babblesphere saw Lalla Ward reprise the role of Romana in a Jonathan Morris Fourth Doctor story that also featured Roger Parrott as Aurelius. So far the Destiny of the Doctor series been a success in my view, particularly given the price to download the whole series of 11 stories (Get…

The Prisoner’s Dilemma reviewed

The Key2Time trilogy was introduced with a Companion Chronicle (much as was Jago & Litefoot) in this case the Simon Guerrier story The Prisoner’s Dilemma. This therefore needs to be considered as both a stand-alone story and in terms of how it connects to the Key2Time trilogy. Spoilers follow…

The Key2Time trilogy

2009 began with the Key2Time trilogy (instead of Key to Time which had been done or Key 2 Time which is just plain silly). This Fifth Doctor trilogy consists of The Judgement of Isskar (Simon Guerrier), The Destroyer of Delights (Jonathan Clements) and The Chaos Pool (Peter Anghelides). There is also a Seventh Doctor / Ace Companion Chronicle that fits into this called The…
